WIT-TV is an online, interactive, and loosely scripted, improv-parody of home shopping television networks and late-night infomercials. Using both live and captured content, WIT-TV will showcase talented performers and engage, our viewers in order to build a strong retail business and raise funds for a variety of non-profit organizations.
We have become accustomed to shopping from our living rooms in our pajamas. Gas is expensive. Lines are long. Fellow shoppers are rude. If I can’t order it online, or over the telephone, do I really need it? If I can't find it on Google, does it even exist?!
WIT-TV will sell a variety of products; everything from novelty items, to things you can’t live without! The items could be anything. Funky sunglasses, an “I’m With Stupid “ t-shirt, Golden Soul CD Collection, the newest tech gadget, signed film scripts, Eddie Izzard’s favorite dress, Spielberg’s favorite slippers…
Each product will be sold in it’s own 3 minute segment. The segment will feature one of our rotating hosts, and a celebrity guest who will play the role of the salesman. We will donate a large percentage of the item’s proceeds, to a charity of the celebrity guest's choosing. The selected non-profit will be given advance notice and will promote the segment to their membership base, drawing customers to our site. WIT-TV, can raise money for a variety of causes, while earning revenue, and providing live, interactive entertainment.
At the end of each segment, the host will thank the special guest, and do a brief exit interview so the guest can comment on their selected charity, plug their current projects and the host can announce how much was raised for the guest’s charity.
As we begin to develop this network, we will partially script and prerecord the majority of the sales videos. The products can be purchased directly from their sales video page. The segments will be searchable by product, category, celebrity guest, and non-profit recipient until the product sells out. Then the spot will be placed in our archives.
Once a week we will feature a live broadcast. Live broadcasts will be almost entirely unscripted improv, feature a crew of talented phone bank operators and a cheesy telethon vibe. The host and celebrity guest are given the segment’s theme, “The Outdoors” or, “For Your Sweetheart,” then sent onto a darkened set. When the lights come up, we go live and the pair must sell whatever object is displayed before them, to the home audience. They will be fed information on price, quantity, color options, etc. To draw an audience to the site, live broadcasts will include a game show segment, where we offer a “Too Good But True Deal.”
“We have twenty Weber grills. These beauties retail for $899, but today, twenty of you can purchase this grill for just $10! Can you believe it Bob?! $10 plus shipping and handling! But get on that phone and call now, I am being told there are only 7 of these babies left…”
Like The Home Shopping Network and QVC, the home audience can call in and purchase the products, or purchase through our online community store. During a live broadcast, after they have made a purchase, they are screened by our operators for the opportunity to be a “Call In.”
The Selected “Call In” customers are able to speak live to the performers. They may ask a question about the product, or provide a testimonial, allowing them to participate and influence the direction of the improv.
